Biography
Izem Gürer is a Turkish pianist currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at Stony Brook University, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant. She previously completed her Master’s degree at the Musik-Akademie Basel and her Bachelor’s degree at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid under the guidance of renowned pianist Dmitri Bashkirov.
An award-winning musician, Izem has received top prizes in numerous international competitions, including first prize at the Pianisti i Ri International Piano Competition and the Hacettepe National Piano Competition. She has performed extensively across Europe as a soloist and chamber musician, appearing on major stages and collaborating with distinguished artists.
Izem is also a passionate and dedicated teacher known for her warm, patient, and engaging teaching style. She creates a supportive learning environment that helps students build confidence, develop strong technique, and foster a genuine love for music.
